Oh, hey there! I’m Breanna, a 27 year old social worker living in the glorious metropolis that is Pittsburgh, PA. I live here with my awesome, supportive husband and our three pets: Agatha the dog and Ruth and Venkman, our two cats. Sometimes I also share stories/pictures about them as well as my friends and family, who are also really great. I consider myself a lucky gal.
I have a wide array of interests and this blog’s purpose is to be a platform to share all of them.
I work for a local non-profit and work in a housing/homelessness program. Most of the time I case manage individuals or families that are or have been in a housing crisis. For a few hours a week, I do regular street outreach to individuals who are street homeless. I also regularly train other service providers about helping clients receive social security benefits and have facilitated a research project (CBPR) focused on women living in a housing crisis. I often write posts that reflect what I have learned as a social worker—I mean to advocate for those I work with and share what I am learning as a professional. My own opinions do not necessarily reflect those of my employer.
When I’m not working, I have a lot of other interests, such as:
Style: I read fashion blogs as if it’s my second job and have also started posting about my own personal style. I have a weird love for thrifting (perhaps related to budgetary constraints because I’m a social worker) and taking pride in my outfits. They’re not all winners, but I try.
Photography: I’m 100% amateur and totally cool with that. I started this blog as a photo-365 project back in 2008 and have kept it going on/off since that time. Hopefully, there will be photographs of things I have seen or places I have been regularly posted here as well.
Reading/News/Politics: I read a whole lot of news and love to talk about what is going on in our world - from the local to international level. Additionally, I enjoy talking about what is going on and hearing others’ perspectives. Learning is for life! I am also a huge fan of NPR.
I also enjoy: animals, food & crafts. Sometimes that stuff is on here too.
